Steph Clarkson DHP Acc. Hyp.
Clinical Hypnotherapist, Integrative Therapist and Reiki Master
Hi, I’m Steph Clarkson a Multi-disciplinary hypnotherapist and teacher.
My approach is simple,I believe the mind, body and spirit are wonderful natural mechanisms that keep us safe and navigates us through life. Sometimes after negative experiences our protective mechanisms kicks in and may result in ill-health, sleeplessness, and emotional disharmony such as fear, anxiety, procrastination and worry.
I work on the premise that it's normal and healthy for the body to want to look after us. We are still in so many ways the tribal pack animals we were back when we were cave dwelling creatures.
In some ways this natural instinct serves us, keeping is vigilant, guiding us with food choices, sleep, rest and emotional responses that make sense of the world.
Sometimes the problem’s we face are due to denying these natural instincts. Other times it’s that our instincts are a little too efficient and leave us afraid and confused. Either way I like to describe most problems as a state of imbalance. So the only question is: how do we bring ourselves back to balance again?
By working together we can put you back in the driving seat of your own inner balance helping yourself into healthier habits that support and nourish you towards your goals.
I love to learn about the brain and what makes people tick and so in my quest for therapeutic knowledge I've enjoyed training with a broad spectrum of therapy approaches: Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, NLP, EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Emotional Freedom Technique, Life Coaching, Time Line approaches, Regression Therapies, Counselling plus a range of holistic therapies such as Aromatherapy and Reiki.
I studied at the highest level of training for Hypnotherapy and Life Coaching via the London Hypnotherapy Academy in Wimbledon and as a result of this broad approach clients often say they feel sessions are friendly, relaxed and that they feel able to open up easily without judgement in a kind, confidential space.
I truly believe that the skills to manage your wellbeing are teachable and that this learning is essential in our modern times. To pass on this learning I opened my well being enterprise Stephanie Clarkson Therapies in 2014 to empower as many people as possible to learn the tools to manage negative states, encourage positive healing and get the most from life.

“Steph’s outlook and calming nature really helped me to understand that I have no reason to feel guilty about wanting my own happiness. That’s not to say that I don’t consider other people’s feelings, but I have come to appreciate that the way that other people feel really isn’t my responsibility. I feel like I have found myself”

Why work with Me
My sessions are relaxed, confidential and built around you. You’ll have a confidential ear to listen to your situation and reassurance that you are talking to somebody who has been through the ups and downs of anxiety, low self esteem and the challenges of mental wellbeing.
Outside the therapy room
These days I actively choose to set myself new challenges that push the comfort zones and yes, I use the techniques we use together in sessions to help me rise to them. Here are 3 things about me outside the therapy room…
1) I adore Art
Alongside my therapy practise, I take small projects as an artist. I’ve been enjoying creative work for 10 years and painted over 400 private commissions.
2) I have a passion for Creative Writing more recently songwriting
After university I became a GCSE English teacher for several years and in that time achieved a Masters in Novel Writing.
These days ‘me time’ is spent penning lyrics as an amateur singer-songwriter. I perform my own music and covers locally and recently performed at Thame Music in the Park.
3) I’m a country girl at heart.
Originally from the green rolling valleys of West Yorkshire, home is now the leafy market town of Thame, Oxfordshire. I share a home with a local personal trainer who ensures nutrition and exercise are an active part of my self-care program.
He’s also my inspiration to become a runner and we’ve completed the Blenheim Palace 10k, Oxford Town and Gown 10k and are currently training for the Oxford Half Marathon in October 2019.
